Carmeuse case study

Picture article 1Carmeuse Lime & Stone, the largest producer of lime and limestone products in North America has rolled out Transwide’s online solution for their transportation execution management.
Transportation is an essential part of Carmeuse’s day-to-day business. Human errors and inefficiency were preventing Carmeuse from extracting the full value of the operations.
Using the Transwide web based communication hub and connecting it to their central ERP system allowed Carmeuse to harmonize their transport execution procedures across the company:
- twCallOff communicates online their transport orders to their logistic partners.
- twSlot now enables their carriers to schedule their own pick-up time via Transwide.
- Through twTrace shipment & delivery information is now available within the system in real time.
- Carmeuse now receives all its ePOD (Proof od Delivery) in less than 48h.
- twData gives Carmeuse a reporting on KPIs to measure and continuously improve its operational efficiency.

Consequently Customer Service has improved and the financial impact is visible, with among others: shortened invoicing cycle and the immediate reduction of demurrage costs.

Transwide application enhancements

Transwide is continuously working hard to improve its applications and to offer new solutions to its ever-growing customer base. Let’s have a look at 2 significant new features that proved valuable to our customers.

Pre-booking functionality enhanced
Transwide has enhanced its pre-booking functionality by granting its shipper customers the optional possibility to freeze the remaining available time-slots in the schedule in case pre-bookings are created for a carriers. As soon as the carrier has booked all its pre-booked time-slots, the remaining time-slots in the schedule become accessible again.

Here are the main benefits of using this new feature:
- The number of unused time-slots is reduced.
- A fixed number of bookings can be guaranteed for carriers.
- Bookings at a wrong (un)loading point are avoided.

New email notification
Transwide's customers can now choose to schedule within a specified number of days an email notification containing a list of call-offs that are due for pick-up or delivery but for which the assigned carrier has not booked a time-slot yet.

Activating this new functionality yields the following main benefits:
- Time-consuming task of browsing through call-off lists to find almost due call-offs is partly automated.
- The risk of late deliveries is lowered.
- The risk of no-show is lowered.

Upload doc

Transwide implemented Upload doc at several of its customers.

This new add-on to twCall-off allows both shippers and carriers to add files to a shipment. These files can be e.g. dangerous goods certificates, claims for damages, pictures of damaged goods, certificates…

Up to 5 files can be added to a call-off. The total size of all uploaded files should not exceed 5MB. Most common file types can be uploaded via interface or through the web portal.

In the call-off dashboard, a paper clip icon indicates files have been uploaded to the call-off.

The uploaded files can be viewed by the involved parties. Only the party that uploaded the files can remove it from the call-off.

Sébastien joined us from a French retail chain, where he was working as a Project Manager for the group purchasing organization in the supply chain department in Poland. He followed up the efficient functioning of the logistics providers and acted as the main contact for the implementation of new IT tools. After several years in Poland he decided to move to Brussels and join Transwide's Project Management team.

His role at Transwide is to help our customer during the whole project development and implementation. He is acting as an adviser starting from the need definition until the solution deployment. He is the main point of contact and has a full overview of the needs, scope, processes, resources, technical and financial aspects of the project. He is responsible for finding the best solution with all these parameters, and act proactively to help things happen.

I’ve always been passionate about project management. Today, at Transwide, I have a chance to work with very demanding clients in different verticals with very different needs. I always strive to maximise the value our customer draw from using the Transwide platform".
