Dear readers,

I would like to welcome you to our first 2009 Transwide newsletter, but first of all let me wish you a happy and successful new year 2009.

2008 as been a very interesting year with unexpected events rocking the boat of the economy as well as numerous innovations and business opportunities arising in the world of logistics and more specifically in logistics collaboration. Indeed, the need for collaboration has never been so great.

When looking at the past eight years, Transwide has played a major role in bringing collaboration capabilities to the Logistics market. It has developed its capabilities both in terms of business solutions and in terms of geographical coverage

It has reinforced its leadership and experienced undisputed success by being true to its philosophy “Collaboration aimed at securing added-value for all supply chain actors”.

But to be short let me describe the long journey in just 4 numbers:

More than 100 single logo customers

Transwide has also witnessed a surging growth in the number of transportation companies with integrated access. Logistic Service Providers can share their logistics information with their client through the Transwide platform and deliver real time transport visibility to their customers.

More than 50.000 users …
More than 50.000 users use Transwide every day to improve their efficiency and contribute to a better service.
All internal divisions within the company can benefit from the real-time information available on the platform. This makes it easier to anticipate the daily workload for warehouses, better manage the planning and resource management, allows improvement in the Customer Service level…

Whether through an ERP system, or directly through the internet, the accessibility to the Transwide web-based platform ensures real-time information and visibility through collaboration with all stake-holders of the transport execution processes.

The crisis: why transwide helps when crisis hits

“It is in hard time that opportunities arise”, it seems clear that the companies that best navigate the crisis will strive best after it.
The crisis is hurting and slowing the economy in ways we cannot anticipate. Its damaging effects will be felt by most of us. So the question remains: What can we do to get through this with as little harm as possible? What can YOU do?

A crisis always translates into a shortage of investment resources.

The Best-in-Class will increase efficiency, they will lower costs and manage to free some cash for investment or better financial results while the crisis hits. They will initiate a virtuous circle.

The Transwide vision.

Why can Transwide help you kick-start the virtuous circle?

  • With a very low up front investment (due to its SaaS model) Transwide has an astonishingly fast ROI (it can be as little as 3 weeks).
  • The recurring cost is proportional to your activity and will therefore adapt to the uncertainty of the environment.
  • Your process visibility will lead to better control of your transport and logistics activities and costs.
  • Based on the web Transwide strongly reduces your communication costs.

This will lead to a virtuous circle of cost reductions

Clearly, Transwide improves your visibility and your communication. It perks up your customer satisfaction. It adds to your Supply Chain reactivity and agility.
But most important it CUTS your cost sharply and frees cash to either invest in other efficiency projects or to show better financial results than your competitors.

Profile of a transwidian : Hans thomassen

Hans joined us from DHL EXEL Supply Chain, where he was working as an Operations Supervisor in Spare Part Logistics. His team was dealing with express orders and standard network orders for spare parts located in warehouses managed by DHL all over the world. In this time-critical environment he had to assure that the daily work was done following all procedures and standards, while keeping a helicopter view over all running operations, transport and customs issues, at the same time building an outstanding relationship with the customers.
When Hans heard about Transwide allowing companies to work together in one transparent system that is easy to use, his interest was sparked and he was happy to take the challenge and fill in the open position of Project Manager.
Hans’ role in Transwide involves technical and process analysis, consulting, set-up, implementation and follow-up of customer-specific projects. In other words, as soon as a customer decides to implement one or multiple Transwide solutions, he will investigate and implement the best tailored solution for the specific needs of this customer using all his large logistics experience, his deep technical knowledge, his creativity and his proactivity.

As the single point of contact from the beginning of the implementation until after the deployment, he effectively steers the processes to fit the scope and controls the resources for all aspects of the project. Picture article 1

Working for Transwide, I have the chance to face a variety of challenges. The customers I’m dealing with are operating in very diverse branches, each with their own specific needs, processes and demands. It is always interesting and inspiring to search and find the best solution for each of them, combining processes and procedures, with state of the art technical and practical applications.”
